The Secret

Jack Canfield has been doing good in this world for a long time. He shot to fame more recently, first as co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books, and then went big-time as one of the instigators of the movie The Secret.

In this abridged article, he shares his goal-setting principles that are a key part of his daily regime.

Here's the abridged version:

First, Goals:
Clarify exactly what you do want,
not what you don't want.
Write it out. Be as specific as possible.
Once you have clarified what you want, then do the following each and every day:

1. Morning Intention, Visualisation and Releasing
As soon as you wake, for 5 minutes focus your mind on your desires, goals and intentions and visualise your day going exactly as you would like it to.

2. Use External Images to Keep Focused
Keep in your line of sight everywhere, pictures of the things you wish to have (ideal car or home) or wish to experience (the perfect relationship, ideal job, perfect health).
Tell yourself this is who you are or what you have now.

3. Think a Better Feeling Thought
Monitor the instances where your emotions are not aligned with having or producing your desires, and consciously substitute more resourceful emotions - "fake it 'til you make it" is a valid success strategy!

4. Have an Attitude of Gratitude
Take time each day to focus on what you have to be grateful for (your health, relationships, absence of hunger, safety, purpose/job, opportunities and options). Extend it to include the weather, our Earth, Nature, Life!

5. Take Action
"Luck favours the prepared mind," said Louis Pasteur, but he might well also have said that: "The Universe tends to help those who do things!" Action creates an energy flow, and energy can transform matter.
If you want good things to start happening for you, be out there using plenty of energy to do positive tasks. You'll get what you're giving out!
A quick check to see if you are on the right path? If you are feeling joy at what you are doing, you are on the right path! Follow the joy!

6. Acknowledge That It Is Working
When you observe yourself changing anything - no matter how small - for the better, acknowledge it as a step in transforming your reality; as proof that your goals are forming.
When good things happen - no matter how trivial - acknowledge them, and you'll attract more and more of them.
To change your results, you'll first have to change your "vibration" and you do that by changing your thoughts and feelings.
